A silver cross with bifurcated and curled ends bearing flaming grenades, overlaid vertically with a two-blade propeller and horizontally with a pair of wings. The centre medallion composed of a laurel wreath overlaid by a crowned Tudor rose bearing, centrally, RAF in monogram. The top branch without a grenade, fashioned with a decorative shape and loop for suspension. An intermediate ring connects to a plain suspender bar with laurel leaves below pierced to receive the intermediate ring. Reverse - Within a ring GRI 1918. Engraved at the bottom of the cross the date of award - . Ribbon - white and purple in thin horizontal lines.
