Circular, silver with straight bar suspender connected to the medal by a clasp of laurel leaves. Obverse - Britannia, seated, with shield, trident and a rising sun. Around the rim FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE and below the figure, FOR GALLANTRY. Reverse - crowned GRI with V below all within a ring made up of lions passant regardant.
