Olive green, rubberised fabric waistcoat containing an inflatable rubber bladder the oral inflation pipe of which emerges from the left breast and is retained in a sheath running up the left shoulder. The jacket fastens with three buttons and two buckled tapes at top and bottom. Front stencilled with orientation and wearing instructions. Bladder not fitted on this example.

Peaked cap with blue-grey fabric crown, black mohair band and black, patent leather chin strap and peak, the latter bearing two rows of gold wire oak leaf embroidery. On the band the Air Officers' badge consisting of a gold wire wreath with crown and lion above, overlaid with a gilt metal eagle.

The badge consisting of a crown in gold and silver wire above a gilt metal eagle above two pairs of gold wire laurel leaves, all on a black Melton patch. Signed on the inside by crew members of Barton's Halifax bomber.
