Head and Breast Set

Combination instrument comprising a pair of headphones mounted on a polished steel support made up of two strips on metal with screw clamps at the ends permitting the headphones to be raised or lowered and a Y shaped Bakelite piece holding a microphone and a speaking horn suspended round the operator's neck by a clip-on cotton tape. The microphone and headphones connected by electrical wiring terminating in a large jack plug.

Flying Jacket of Wing Commander Eric James Brindley Nicolson

Fur lined leather flying jacket with full length zip opening, zipped cuffs and wide fall collar with strap for when worn in the up position. Collar has started to detach and tear on the right arm and left armpit.

GQ Parasuit

Green, linen smock with short sleeves and legs. Double zip closure at front. Pockets in lower front. Chest and back of neck are provided with storage for a life jacket bladder. Back section consists of two large flaps, closing with a zip at the top and cones/pins in the centre. Also connected to these cones/pins are two small flaps covered with brown leather. Rip cord passes from small flaps under left arm to handle housing on left breast. Inside the garment is fixed a parachute harness which is missing the top half of the quick release connectors which attach the canopy to the harness.

Uniform Brevet of a Pilot

On a patch of black melton cut to shape, RAF in monogram, within a wreath crowned with a King's crown. From the mid point of the wreath on either side extend horizontal wings. Crown, monogram and wings in off-white embroidery, wreath brown. Flat type. With a pair of press studs sewn to reverse.

Reid Pilot Aptitude Testing Machine

An electric motor driving a large drum that has a stylo picking up electrical contacts around the drum. A large wooden wheel fitted one side and a ceramic on/off switch. Other electrical component fitted on other sides including a three pin electrical plug connector. All mounted on a steel base and painted in black crackle overall.

Head Up Display (HUD) unit

First Head Up Display (HUD) design fitted to the BAe E.A.P. during its initial phases of flying. Based around, but adapted from an F-16 LANTIRN type. Main display screen and oval in shape and is supported by a tie bar on each side that extend away from the control panel end.

First World War Memorial Plaque

Large circular, bronze plaque bearing a figure of Victory with a trident in her right hand and extending a laurel wreath with her left above an entablature bearing CHARLOTTE ANNIE DAY in relief letters. Standing beside her a lion. At base a lion fighting an eagle. Round the rim SHE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOVR with two dolphins and a spray of oak leaves. Mounted in a carved, dark stained, wooden frame with letters WRAF carved within a floral design. Designed by Mr (later Sir) Edward Carter Preston.

SE5A Interplane Strut

Interplane strut from an S.E.5a biplane fighter. Wood with metal tips on either end. It has the Wolseley Motors manufacturer's crest in the centre, and bears autographs of personalities who were members of the RFC and RAF. It belonged to Gp Capt J Ira T Jones of 74 Squadron. There is ?bullet damage at one end.
