On a silver coloured eight point multi-rayed star, The upper point replaced by a Queen's crown, a circular medallion with an eagle overlaid. The medallion having a red centre within a blue-grey ring lettered FIRE SERVICE AIR FORCE DEPT. The badge of two piece construction, the central portion being mounted on the crowned star and retained by two lugs and a vertical pin. Two fixing lugs on reverse.

Long steel blade with full fullers tapered to a point, two piece wooden grip scales with two horizontal grooves in each, fixed by two screw bolts. Wasted cross guard with 22mm Ø muzzle ring and spring loaded catch with channel in the pommel. Complete with leather scabbard with metal stapled tip and belt hanger type throat and fitted with a home guard leather frog (accessioned separately).

Single-breasted, four button jacket with roll-step collar, two flap and button, pleated breast pockets, two flap and button bellows pockets in skirt and centre rear vent and a small inset pocket let into the waist. Integral fabric belt with two prong gilt buckle. The lower button shows below the belt. Pilot's ATA flying badge above left breast pocket and twin gold rank lace on black patch on the shoulders.

Rectangular, vertical box pouch of square section made from cloth coated polyurethane on textured nylon in olive green. The top closing with pull tab and Velcro patch. Pouch attaches to 1990 Ptn. belt via one of two pairs of two metal prongs and a pair of nylon straps closing with two press studs. The top of the pouch is fitted with a pair of universal buckles and a female quick release buckle.

Square wooden box at one end fronted by large tuning dial running over 11 points lettered A to K from right to left. Coil runs out from this casing when a knob is turned, running along two geared rails, one running through the centre of the coil. Wooden base plate with graduated scale beneath the extendable coil. Two wire lengths remain attached to two screw type connectors.

Large "Spark Plug" shaped body in two sections (one screwed inside the other). The upper section has a white ceramic insulator surrounding a nickel plated externally threaded guide with two nuts and a fabric washer. The lower section is hollow with a built in hexagonal nut below a large external thread having two non-fixed nuts. This example has coaxial feeds attached. See Historical Notes.

Integral fabric belt with two prong gilt buckle. The lower button covered by the belt. Black and pale blue rank lace at cuffs to the rank of Flight Officer. Medal ribbon for OBE, Defence Medal and 1939-45 War Medal.

Double-breasted, calf-length, blue 'Aquatite' coat closing with five pairs of gilt uniform buttons. Single small button with tab to close skirt. Long central rear vent closing with two small gilt buttons (one absent). Fabric waist belt retained by belt loops fastened with two gilding metal crown and eagle buttons. Two inset pockets on skirt with flaps. Sleeves end with large cuffs. Garment fully lined in buff grey wool.
