Blue cotton calf length coat with fall collar and closing from waist to neck with six buttons (two buttons missing). Integral fabric belt attached to the front quarters, closing in the rear with two buttons. Slit openings at the cuffs with button closure. Open patch pockets in the skirt.

Khaki, cotton canvas box-bag, the main compartment closing with a flap fastened by two press-studs facing the wearer and a smaller, full width flap on the outer side closing two vertical pockets for the carriage of anti-gas eye shields and an anti-gas ointment container. The base of the main compartment fitted with two small brass ventilators. Broad, adjustable cotton webbing shoulder strap with two alternative methods of fastening to the haversack depending on their date of manufacture. This example an Early model - Earlier examples are mounted with yellow alloy hooks which engage with metal D rings attached to the upper sides. Later examples have the strap permanently fixed to the attachment rings. The interior divided into three compartments - one full width and the other two of approximately half the width. The edges of the box bag nearest the wearer fitted with two small brass D rings. Also sewn into the right side rear edge is a length of whip cord. The attachment ring on the left side fitted with a small S hook which engages with a pierced tab fashioned in the mid point of the sling in order to shorten it quickly when required. The left end of the strap provided with a cord loop to engage with a uniform button to steady the haversack in certain modes of wear. For use with Short Tube Respirators only.
