Airmen parade in a hangar at RAF Brize Norton for the official naming of a VC 10 (XR810 ‘David Lord’) curtains are drawn back to reveal the name, painted on the aeroplane’s fuselage, and a number of people then board.

Single-breasted, blue, four button jacket with roll-step collar, two flap and button, pleated breast pockets, two flap and button bellows pockets in skirt, a small inset pocket let into the waist and centre rear vent. Detachable fabric belt with two prong buckle. Black and pale blue rank lace at cuffs to the rank of Flight Lieutenant. All buttons of composition type apart from bellows pockets which are blackened bronze. Medal ribbons - 1939-45 Star, France/Germany Star, Defence Medal and 1939-45 War Medal. Pilot's flying badge above left breast pocket.

Green woven cotton tapering box-bag. Small pocket on right side for stowage of waist cord; locking turn button on left side. Top opening flap fastening with two press-studs and a loop-slot & tongue quick release fastener. Narrow, adjustable shoulder strap - not detachable - fitted with male and female press-studs to shorten it to a carrying handle. Stitched internally to the front panel two oil cloth pockets, the smaller one inside the larger one. Inside the lid-flap, two narrow bands of webbing to retain additional equipment. All metal fastenings green anodized white alloy except locking button.

Working Pattern No. 2712A Single-breasted, four button jacket with roll-step collar, two flap and button, pleated breast pockets, two flap and button bellows pockets in skirt, small inset pocket let into waist and centre rear vent. The lower button shows below the belt. Integral fabric belt with two prong gilt buckle. A ticket pocket covered by the belt on the right side. Warrant Officer's badges above cuffs embroidered on black patches. Lined in the body in mid-grey twill weave, sateened cotton and in the sleeves with a similar white material.

Pilot's wings above left breast pocket. Red wound stripe on the left sleeve. Medal ribbons for Military Medal, 1914-15 Star, 1914-18 War Medal, Victory Medal, Defence Medal and 1939-45 War Medal.
