Long, double-breasted, blue-grey Melton coat with a fold down collar, shoulderboards bearing rank to Flying Officer in Service Dress lace and belt fastening with a pinless buckle. Flapped, inset pockets in front at waist level, cut slightly sloping to rear. Sword slit let into seam on left side and covered by belt. Long centre rear vent with two self-coloured buttons to keep skirts closed. Front closes with five pairs of large uniform buttons tapering downwards to the waist. Three small uniform buttons mounted at the rear of each cuff.

Front closes with five pairs of large uniform buttons and a tab which engages with a small self coloured button to close the skirt. Three small uniform buttons mounted at the rear of each cuff. Single-breasted, four button, four pocket jacket with collar and lapels and integral fabric belt. Pleated, flap and button breast pockets, flap and button inset skirt pockets. Rear vent. All buttons and buckle gilding metal. Sleeves bear shoulder eagles, Sergeant's stripes on upper arms and five red service chevrons above the right cuff. Conversion refers to the application of buttons to the lower pockets and the provision of button holes in the pocket flaps to make the jacket look like the original, 1939 Pattern garment.

Waist-length, Barathea jacket with collar, small lapels and five button fastening concealed in a fly. The waistband extended to fasten with a flat hook. Zipped pockets in chest slightly angled from shoulders towards the centre. Shoulder straps sewn down all the way round. Plain sleeves, no cuff. Rank lace on shoulder straps to the rank of Group Captain. Pilot's badge on left breast. Medal ribbons for OBE, DFC, 1939-45 Star, Burma Star, Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal and Africa General Service Medal.

Reproduction. Five button jacket with stand-up collar, plain shoulder straps, flap and button pleated breast pockets, flap and button gussetted skirt pockets. Two brass hooks let into the waist to support Sam Browne belt. Cuffs encircled by lace and overlaid with a vertical patch, straight on its front edge and scalloped on its rear edge, bearing a single embroidered crown. All buttons dull bronze. Two medal ribbons - Queen's South Africa Medal and King's South Africa Medal. Lined silk twill.
