Recorded conversation between five Tornado GR1 pilots and navigators on their experience of Germany in the 1980s and of the 1991 Gulf War. This project was run as a collaboration between the RAF Museum and the University of Stirling.

A gold, five arm cross, the ends of the arms cleft and the points with ball finials, enamelled white, the interstices filled with a wreath of laurel (left) and oak (right). The whole suspended from a horizontal, oval wreath of laurel (right) and oak (left) with an articulated ring suspender. Centrally on the cross a gold medallion - Obverse - a bust of Napoleon I within a blue ring lettered REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE 1870, Reverse - two crossed tricolors within a blue ring lettered HONNEUR ET PATRIE.

Long, double-breasted, blue-grey Fleece cloth coat with a fold down collar, shoulderboards bearing rank to Flight Lieutenant in Service Dress lace and belt fastening with a pinless buckle. Flapped, inset pockets in front at waist level, cut slightly sloping to rear. Sword slit let into seam on left side and covered by belt. Long centre rear vent with two self-coloured buttons to keep skirts closed. Front closes with five pairs of large uniform buttons tapering downwards to the waist. Three small uniform buttons mounted at the rear of each cuff. All uniform buttons and buckle gilded metal.

Double-breasted, unlined, heavy serge greatcoat fastening with five pairs of buttons - chrome plated with NFS in relief - and with a turn-over collar capable of being hooked up under the chin. Internal, flapped pockets in the skirt, centre rear vent with false, buttoned half belt above. Plain sleeves, no cuff. Shoulder straps retained by small size NFS buttons bearing traces of scarlet melton grading insignia indicating a Section Leader. The insignia has disappeared from the right shoulder (stitch marks and traces under strap) and the remains of one strip present on left.

Rectangular matt black painted aluminium body fitted with a large circular gauge with triple scale and inner volt meter. Five-way switch (knob missing) marked, OFF, TUNE RT, NAV.CW, ADF, LOOP, press button marked, TAKE OVER, four-way switch (knob missing) marked, 015, .325, .70, 1.5, DIM switch, VOL switch, CW/RT switch, LEFT/ LOOP/ RIGHT switch, SENSE press button, DEC/FREQ/INC and FILTER OUT switch all fitted in face. Two screw adjusters marked SLOW RUNNING LOOP/TUNNING MOTOR fitted top and rear. Large multi-pin plug in base. Re-painted face is peeling off.
