Presentation took place during an inspection of 300 Squadron at RAF Bramcote on 20 August 1940. Award is not visible. A hangar and parading servicemen are visible in the background. Image has a typescript caption attached to the reverse.

A five arm gold cross with forked ends and ball finials, enamelled white with red edges. Obverse - centrally, within a gold decorated ring a blue medallion bearing thirteen white stars. The arms of the cross linked by a green laurel wreath and the angles of the cross within the wreath filled with pairs of gold crossed arrows. At base a bow joining the wreath. At the top of the vertical arm a large, fixed, laurel suspender loop with a plain gilt ribbon loop. Reverse - on the plain back of the wreath the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and on the plain surround of the medallion ANNUIT COEPTIS MDCCLXXXII. Ribbon - mauve-pink with very narrow white edges.

Coat closes with five pairs of large black plastic buttons and a button and tab to close the skirt. When closed the left hand flap of the coat tucks under a small flap from the right shoulder which is secured to the left by a single button. Long central rear vent closing with a single button. Fabric belt with a plastic buckle and single pin secured by belt loops. Vertical flapless pocket openings closing with a single button enable access to internal open patch pockets. Full grey cotton lining. Cuff straps with two buttons.

Single-breasted, waist-length blue-grey serge jacket closing with five buttons concealed in a fly. The garment intended to be buttoned to the top and the collar fastened with a hook and eye. Pleated and flapped breast pockets closed with the same, button cuffs. The waistband narrowing into a belt extension which engages with a buckle on right side which has a retaining loop behind it. The waistband pierced with three button holes at the back and one in the front to secure the jacket to the trousers with which it is supposed to be worn. Fitted with shoulder eagles on blue grey background, Auxiliary 'A' patches and telecommunications patch on upper right arm and service chevrons above right cuff.

Rectangular brown earth painted mounting tray made up of riveted aluminium and fitted with three separate control units with quick release "Dzus" fasteners. The largest control unit (Type 9103) is fitted with a gauge marked, CRYSTAL CURRENT, PORT/STBD switch, ALIGN/POSITION green and red lamps, DIMMER switch, INC/DEC switch, and four various toggle switches. The second (Type 9987) fitted with three toggle switches marked, ON/OFF POWER, OPEN/SHUT AERIAL, R.F.LEVEL. DIM switch, three-way switch marked, ATTEN 0/12/24, five-way switch marked, N,A,D,B,C CHECK BAL, BAL with four rotating knobs behind a cover. The third (Type 7449) has I.F. GAIN switch, green lamp, ON/PULSING switch and ON/POWER switch.
