Standard Pattern No. 23940 Y shaped structure made up of Aertex netting and nylon webbing fitted with a narrow waist strap. The strap fitted with adjustment buckle on right and a 'pinch jaw' fastener. The top ends of the Y fitted with the female portions of two pinch jaw fasteners. The lower end of the Y with two male fasteners and the area where the arms of the Y diverge from the back panel, with two pairs of male fasteners set at 90 degrees to each other - two facing outwards sideways and two facing down the back.
