Two pairs of conjoined laurel leaves supporting an eagle with out-streched wings with a crown above, all in silver gilt. The separate metal elements attached to a patch of black melton cut to shape with an internal stiffener. The arches of the crown filled with red velvet. Mounted on a black mohair cap band with a pair of gilt rank tabs for a Second Lieutenant.
