Ptn 1903

Strip of leather tapering at both ends. The upper end turned over and rivetted so as to form a belt loop. The lower end overlaid with another piece of leather rivelletted round the edge so as to form a tube through which the bayonet scabbard passes. The outer face of this tube fitted with a large brass stud which retains, on its inner face a short leather strap pierced to fit over the stud. This strap passes through a horizontal staple on the upper cap of the bayonet scabbard and then fastens to the stud in order to keep the scabbard secure.
