An upright rectangular wood framed ceramic plaque of blue and white Delft Ware showing a woman and child waving at three aircraft which are dropping supplies, with a village and sunrise in the background and the words "VOEDSEL-VREDE-VRIHEID [Foodstuffs-Peace-Freedom] "29 APRIL.1945 5 MEI" [29 April - 5 May 1945] below.

Flying Gauntlet, RAF, 1943 Pattern

Plain brown leather soft gauntlet with no fasteners at all. Made in 1943 in large sizes for use by Air Gunners particularly when wearing electrically heated gloves. Produced in the same style in the following year and known by that Pattern date, but in smaller sizes for wear with silks and chamois gloves but not heated ones.

Winch, (C Class Flying Boat)

Large, silver painted, tubular framed hand operated cable winch for hauling in refuelling hose to the receiving aircraft; carried by C Class flying boat during flight refuelling experiments. Red painted side crank handle operating drum via large red painted chain wheel. Brake pressure gauge mounted on front of unit. Yellow knobbed release lever at front.

RAF Irvin jacket, John Hannah

Fleece-lined, brown leather short jacket with full length zip closure and zips running up front of fore-arms. Around the bottom front, a leather half belt emerging from the side seams, fitted with a white metal buckle. On the underside of the collar a fastening loop and a strap to hold the collar up when worn in that position.

No. 239 Squadron Scoreboard

Framed plywood panel painted dark green on the face with a black painted wooden German cross screwed over a Balkenkreuz black and white painted cross. "239" (BS) over S-D SQUADRON RECORD of VICTORIES in white lettering with the recorded the Squadron victories for the period 28 January-6 November 1944 painted on the black cross. A "key" DESTROYED, PROBABLE and DAMAGED painted in the bottom right corner.

A cigar-shaped metal cylinder with four equally spaced rectangular fins attached at one end. These are connected by small rod at the tips. The opposite end tapers to a gentle point. the whole is painted dark green and there is a yellow dashed line marking following the adjoining edge of one of the fins. On the top is an eyebolt and fuse.

RAF Mk III GL* flying goggles, John Hannah

Light-weight metal frames lacquered black enclosing curved celluloid windows. Broad, padded leather surround and leather nose piece. Head band made up of cotton-covered steel springs joined to an adjustable leather strap passed through a steel buckle and turned so as not to pass back through the buckle. Showing signs of burn damage acquired during the exploit for which Hannah was awarded the Victoria Cross.
