Dark patinated bronze cross pattée with a semi-circular extension on the upper arm bearing a ring which engages with a V below the suspension bar which is decorated with two sprays of laurel leaves joined by a ribbon. Obverse - a crown with crowned lion above and below a sroll bearing the words FOR VALOUR. The cross edged with a double line border. Reverse - The cross edged with a double line border and a double lined central disc bearing an engraved date 11TH AUGUST 1945. The reverse of the suspension bar engraved ACT. S/L. I.W. BAZALGETTE, R.A.F. on top line and No.635 SQUADRON on second line. Ribbon - maroon.

Flying Helmet, RAF, Type C, Wired

Brown leather helmet lined in chamois constructed in strips passing from front to rear of the wearer's head with a brow band, lined in velvet. Fitted with circular, black rubber telephone holders. Combined microphone and earphone/telephone wiring enters at centre rear of helmet and is fed through to the earphones and to a microphone plug below the left ear. Three male press studs on each side of face aperture for connection of Type G Oxygen mask. Right side studs fitted with hook to receive loop from mask harness. Centre rear fitted with short buckled strap to retain goggles strap. Two vertical leather tabs sewn at top and with press studs at bottom placed behind telephone holders to steady goggles strap.

The Enigma Machine

Build 1. Portable encoding machine, in rectangular wooden case with hinged lid. The main unit has letters on push-down keys forming a typewriter like keyboard and a photocopy of the operating manual, plus the original printed operating instructions, in German, inside the wooden lid, partly covered by a detachable transparent green plastic cover. Row of 10 light bulbs along top inner edge of lid. Drop down lid at front to access plugs which plug into numbered and lettered sockets. One lid hinge detached and with copy instruction manual.

Raytheon Paveway III (UK)

Laser guided 2,000 lb high penetration bomb based around BLU-109 high explosive bomb. Painted dark green overall with blue nose band and white stencilled 'inert bomb' front and rear. Green/brown bodied detachable laser guidance head with perspex nose cone and four fixed fins; at rear of bomb are mounted four spring loaded fins/wings that deploy when the weapon is dropped. There are four brass screw type carrying lug attachments along the top of the main bomb body. Rear mounted standard No.960 Mk.2 fuze.

RAF, Mk. I (Mae West)

CHECK EXTENT OF ASSOCIATED CONTENTS ON DISMANTLING. Yellow cotton waistcoat fastening with three buttons and with tie tapes across the breast and at waist level. The sections over the chest and behind the neck formed as a container for a rubberised fabric, inflatable bladder with a snap-neck gas cylinder in the right lower side and an oral inflation tube in the left breast. The snap-neck lever contained in a housing and the tube passing up round the neck in a fabric sleeve. Zip under neck pocket for access to inner compartments. Two webbing pockets at right side for electric torch and battery holder. Flourescine sea marker pad in a ripping panel on left lower side. Two pairs of webbing tapes front and back to tie between legs. Pair of webbing loop handles on chest for pulling helpless wearer out of water. Small patch pocket on left breast, closing with a press-stud for heliograph mirror. Toggle and cord let into lower left hem for securing to dighy when in the water. Fitted with set of three kapok flotation pads.

Royal Air Force Prisoners of War Association Memorial Plaque

Memorial to the 50 PoWs shot after the 'Great Escape' from Stalag Luft III in March 1944. Rectangular memorial plaque with glass fronted deep wooden frame, topped by a brass eagle with outstretched wings. Features Royal Air Force Prisoners of War Association badge at the centre with RAF, Fighter Command and Bomber Command Association badges and RCAF, RAF, RNZAF and RAAF pilot's wings and central plaque inscribed 'Look at this Friend. Take the Freedom they strove to Give You and be in their debt.' Smaller individual name plaques bearing the names of those shot.

Single-breasted, waist-length jacket with buttons concealed in fly to neck, stand and fall collar fastening with hooks, shoulder straps, buttoned cuffs. Flapped pleated breast pockets with concealed button. Waistband with belt extension to a metal buckle. Buttonholes inside waistband to engage with buttons on waistband of trousers. Rank insignia SAY WHERE AND IN WHAT FORM. Pilot's Air Gunner's Navigator's Observer's Signaller's Bomb Aimer's DELETE AS APPROPRIATE flying badge above left breast pocket. Mention any medal ribbons which may be below the flying badge. Pale blue shoulder eagles printed on black cotton patches on shoulders. (Delete as appropriate) Rank .... Flying badges ...

RAF, Type G

STANDARD DESCRIPTION. THE EXAMPLE MAY NOT BE IN THIS CONDITION OR AS COMPLETE. CHECK WHEN FIGURE IS DISMANTLED. Grey-green rubber face cup, the inner edge lined in suede, shaped so as to fit over the nose and chin. Below the chin an oval section extension housing the expiratory valve and the oxygen supply inlet which bifurcates and is carried into the upper part of the mask in ducts fashioned within the wall of the mask. Inspiratory valve in lower left cheek. Above the oval extension, a large circular central aperture housing the microphone which is clamped in by a wire ring and sealed with a rubber collar. Around the oval extension, and attached by brackets to the microphone clamp ring, an adjustable, cotton webbing suspension harness terminating on the left in a leather pad with two female press studs and on the right with a single strap and a metal loop. The press studs engage with male studs on the left side of the helmet and the loop engages with a flat hook attached to the right side.

RAF Type B flying helmet, John Hannah

Dark brown leather helmet lined throughout in chamois, with a brown velvet brow band. Circular leather telephone holders with vertical zips, fitted internally with a plastic telephone cup and, usually, containing moulded foam rubber telephone pads. Inside the helmet, padded chamois ear cushions. On either side of the face aperture a pair of female press studs, facing inwards, intended for the attachment of the D Type oxygen mask. Leather chin strap with metal tip on right which engages with a quick release buckle on left. The rear of the helmet gussetted for several inches to allow adjustment and with a tightening strap running around the back. Short, buckled vertical strap in centre, lower rear for retaining goggles. Showing signs of burn damage acquired during the exploit for which Hannah was awarded the Victoria Cross.
