The Enigma Machine

Build 1. Portable encoding machine, in rectangular wooden case with hinged lid. The main unit has letters on push-down keys forming a typewriter like keyboard and a photocopy of the operating manual, plus the original printed operating instructions, in German, inside the wooden lid, partly covered by a detachable transparent green plastic cover. Row of 10 light bulbs along top inner edge of lid. Drop down lid at front to access plugs which plug into numbered and lettered sockets. One lid hinge detached and with copy instruction manual.

Observer Corps Armband

Band of boucle woven wollen fabric in dark blue and white vertical stripes with OBSERVER CORPS woven into the pattern in red. Chrome plated pinless buckle for fastening with loose end retaining loop in the same fabric as the armband.

Victoria Cross of Sergeant John Hannah

Victoria Cross awarded to FS John Hannah. Visual Description: dark patinated bronze cross pattée with a semi-circular extension on the upper arm bearing a ring which engages with a V below the suspension bar which is decorated with two sprays of laurel leaves joined by a ribbon. Obverse - a crown with crowned lion above and below a sroll bearing the words FOR VALOUR. The cross edged with a double line border. Reverse - The cross edged with a double line border and a double lined central disc bearing an engraved date 15TH SEPT 1940 . The reverse of the suspension bar engraved 652918 SGT. J. HANNAH. 83 SQ. R.A.F. Ribbon - maroon.
