Flying Helmet Type D

Sand, cotton twill helmet lined in silk constructed in strips passing from front to rear of the wearer's head with a brow band, lined in velvet. Small neck flap attached to the rear. Fitted with circular, black rubber telephone holders with chamois pads. Three male press studs on the left side and a hook on the right of the face aperture for connection of Type E*/ G Oxygen Masks. Elasticated chin strap with press stud closure. Centre rear fitted with short buckled strap to retain goggles strap. A pair of vertical leather tabs sewn at top and with press studs at bottom placed behind telephone holders to steady goggles strap. A small leather tab is provided in the centre rear of the helmet to secure a wiring loom which is then fed through press studded tabs and then channels to the telephone receivers and to a microphone plug on the left. Type 2091 Connector and Type 32 Telephone Receivers fitted to this example.

Master Pattern No. 35/R/1998 Peaked cap with a blue-grey fabric crown and black mohair band bearing an anodized Warrant Officer's cap badge. The peak and chin strap in black plastic material. Brown sweat band in plastic. Crown lined in a glazed transparent fabric.

RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team Helmet

Standard, Helmet, Parachute Instructor. Olive green glass fibre helmet shell, lined with cork and with a nylon webbing harness. Lining laced to the outer rim and incopoates a chin strap. This example has had covered by strips of dayglo orange plastic and the letters RAF have been stuck to the front.

Brown leather helmet; with brown fur lining to ears, nape of neck, and peak; and chamois lining to crown. Silk thread label sewn into top of crown. The sides fitted with wind deflectors and ear flaps. Leather chinstrap from right side engages with leather covered buckle on left.

"T" shaped matt black painted body incorporating a 35mm lens with circular reflector mirror inside. Two large locking knobs fixed on top on either side to access film spools in the rear. Two smaller knobs in-between. A small circular glass window with counter behind at the right. Slight damage.

High waisted, B/G serge trousers with button fly and buttons round inner waistband to take braces. Side pockets, flap and button inset pocket in the rear and pleated, buttoned patch pocket on front left side for Field Service Dressing. The waistband fitted with buttons to engage with button holes in the waistband of the jacket.

Solar Pith Helmet of Other Ranks

Low crowned, domed, light-weight helmet with a thick brim. The crown pierced with two pairs of ventilation holes and the whole structure covered with khaki drill cloth with the inside of the brim lined in green cloth. Five fold pugaree with RAF flash. Leather head band with webbing straps.

Duke Of Edinburgh's RAF Officer's Cap, 1932 pattern

Peaked cap with blue-grey fabric crown, black mohair band and black, patent leather chin strap and peak, the latter bearing two rows of gold wire oak leaf embroidery. On the band the Air Officers' badge consisting of a gold wire wreath with crown and lion above, overlaid with a gilt metal eagle.

Princess Mary's RAF Nursing Service Service Dress Hat

White felt hat with domed crown and brim folded up to form four points. Mohair band with badge attached to the front. The badge consisting of a crown in gold and silver wire above a gilt metal eagle above two pairs of gold wire laurel leaves, all on a white Melton patch. Internal silk head band.
