Princess Mary's RAF Nursing Service Tropical Helmet

Low crowned, domed, light-weight helmet with a wide brim, slightly square in plan form. The crown pierced with a ventilation hole and the whole structure covered with white drill cloth. Four fold pugaree. Elastic chin strap and padded silk head band.

Wooden block shaped to take rope top and bottom with wheel (wooden) fitted with dowel in centre. Small diamond metal shapes pinned either side with various individuals signatures in ink pen. Mounted to base with engraved brass plate (see history)

Wide-legged, straight trousers with zip fly, side pockets and a flap and button inset pocket in the rear. Waistband with buttons for braces, buttoned adjustment straps and buttons to engage with button holes in the waistband of the jacket.

Full-sized trials model of MBDA Brimstone supersonic 'Fire and Forget' anti-armour missile, which in service consists of a smart launcher and three missiles, carried on a pylon. Cylindrical alloy body with four tail fins and three top mounting brackets. Painted overall medium grey with fawn coloured nose.
Aircrew Helmet Mark 1A

Light-weight, silver-painted protective head covering made of laminated fibrous material lined in leather. The interior fitted with a nylon webbing harness to hold the head away from the inner surface of the helmet and a padded leather brow cushion. Two male press studs on the rear sides for the attachment of the detachable Visor, if worn. Fixed chin strap on left and male press stud on right for fastening. The helmet fitted with an adjustable visor mechanism in the form of a ratchet rail running centrally fore and aft over the head and retaining a dark-tinted visor which can be raised or lowered by a nylon handle. This example fitted with a boom microphone on the left side of the helmet.
