Firefighter's Mk 3

Full face glass fibre helmet shell with removable fabric curtain secured by a metal band to the lower edge. Large acrylic visor with fine metal mesh pivoting round the side of the helmet. Plastic adjustable head band and webbing cradle. Padded curtain fitted with silver reflective material, covers the back of the neck, shoulders and chest.

Reid Pilot Aptitude Testing Machine

An electric motor driving a large drum that has a stylo picking up electrical contacts around the drum. A large wooden wheel fitted one side and a ceramic on/off switch. Other electrical component fitted on other sides including a three pin electrical plug connector. All mounted on a steel base and painted in black crackle overall.

Peaked cap with a blue-grey fabric crown, black mohair band and black leather peak and chin strap. The front bearing a gilding metal RAF Airmen's cap badge and the crown covered with a white cotton cap cover blancoed white. Leather sweat band and glazed cotton fabric lining.

Circular, silver with scrolled bar suspender. Obverse - Monarch's profile (GRVI), left side with his/her title round rim. Reverse - A crowned eagle. Round rim FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT. With clasp ROYAL AIR FORCE LEVIES, IRAQ. Ribbon - dark blue and maroon with white edges. Ribbon missing. The edge impressed 1905 CPL. KHOSHABA YOKHANA.

Cotton-covered, domed cork helmet with broad brim, pointed at the front and square at the back, having a domed ventilator button in the top. Brim bound in leather and leather chin strap. The interior fitted with a leather head band and adjustable silk lining. Large pugaree with RAF flash on the left.

US Air Force Flying Helmet Type P-4A

Protective helmet with rubber edge trim. Leather and webbing internal suspension system to keep the shell off the wearer's head. Fitted internally with padded earphones for which the connector lead enters at rear of shell. Microphone plug-in point below left ear on exterior of helmet. The helmet fit can be adjusted by means of laces pierced through the shell which connect with straps internally. A tinted visor is held on a pivotting armature with a locking pin running in line with a rail positioned vertically on the front of the helmet. A pull-out locking pin enables the visor to be raised by a spring connected to the armature. Oxygen mask attachment points at each side of the face aperture operate by two pinch levers which release serrated tongues fitted to either side of the mask suspension system. Off white with dark blue zigzag pattern.

Large scale model made for RAF recruiting TV advert. Made up of tools and equipment used by various RAF trades. The tailplane consists of computer keyboards, a computer mouse and a pocket calculator; the wings are made up of medical tools such as scalpels and syringes, plus paintbrushes and plubing parts, the foreplanes of screwdrivers and drill bits, the fuselage of screwdrivers and other tools.

Short Sunderland, Tail Trolley

Wood and metal structure. Square, wooden main body with single axle - double rubber tyred wheels each side. Tapered wooden tow bar with silver painted steel shackle halfway and wooden cross piece at end for man-handling. Top consists of four angled wooden posts and rubber pads to fit under the rear keel of the Sunderland, each side pair adjustable by hand gearing. Painted dark brown overall.

Peaked cap with an angled crown in blue-grey fabric, deeper at the front than the rear. The top of the crown so cut and stitched as to provide an oval indented shape with a raised centre. A wire stiffener inside the crown to retain the shape. Black mohair band bearing the standard officers' cap badge. Blue-grey fabric covered peak. Plastic chin strap.

Blue-grey, soft fabric cap with the crown gathered into a band covered by a separate black mohair band bearing the RAF Airmen's cap badge in gilding metal. Plain black leather peak and chin strap. Repair (poorly) made to crown of cap above right side of peak; owner's name and service number written on inside of peak.
