Plain, pale blue, shirt produced in 'end over end' weave fabric. Fall collar, full length front opening and soft shoulder straps. Patch pocket on the left breast and with button cuffs.

Air Force Cross

A silver cross, the end of each branch terminating in a facetted arrow head and the space between the branches filled with a rounded diamond shape composed of feathered wings. The lower arrow head bearing a flaming grenade, the upper a crown and fixed ring suspender. The cross overlaid with a four-blade propeller, the left, top and right ends of which bear R G VI. Centrally a medallion of Hermes riding on an eagle and carrying a wreath. The fixed ring connecting to a plain bar suspender with a swag of larel leaves below, pierced to accept the ring. Reverse - within a ring RGI 1918. Ribbon - red and white horizontal in narrow stripes.

Flying Helmet Type B

Dark brown leather helmet lined throughout in chamois, with a brown velvet brow band. Circular leather telephone holders with vertical zips, fitted internally with a rubber telephone cup. Inside the helmet, padded chamois ear cushions. On either side of the face aperture a pair of female press studs, facing inwards, intended for the attachment of the D Type oxygen mask. Leather chin strap with metal tip on right which engages with a quick release buckle on left. The rear of the helmet gussetted for several inches to allow adjustment and with a tightening strap running around the back. Short, buckled vertical strap in centre, lower rear for retaining goggles.

Steel Helmet Mark II

Shallow domed (non magnetic) steel shell with stainless steel lip. Fitted with a Mk.II oil skin liner and lining securing bolt with a Mk.II sprung adjustable chin strap. Covered in rough matt green sand paint.

Consists of a steel rod bearing a joint piece which carries another rod bent at 90 degrees. the latter has two brass callipers attached to it with screw clamps. Central rod has bakelite handle bound in brass.
