Aircrew protective helmet consisting of a rigid glass fibre shell painted green. Styrene liner with nylon webbing neck strap and cradle to separate head from lining. Leather covered foam pads front and rear. Ear capsules, fitted with finger loops to aid donning, are attached via Velcro pads to nylon straps which can be loosed by external clips on each side of the helmet. Wired with NATO jack plug exiting the rear of the helmet and microphone connector externally on the lower left side. Oxygen mask hooks on sides of face aperture. Helmet is fitted with a twin visor assembly with controls in housing on the left. A cross of reflective tape is fitted to the top of the helmet. Chin strap with quick locking buckle and Velcro adjustment.

Wired for use with US radio equipment while receivers for US J-Type oxygen mask bayonets have been added to the sides of the helmet. RAF, Anti-G, External, Green, Mk. 2A

Olive green man-made fibre 'trousers' consisting of a broad belly band with legs, but no seat, the legs consisting of panels located over the main muscle groupings of the leg - thighs and calves - and voided in front and behind the knees to facilitate movement. The belly band formed of an inflatable envelope in front and a panel of of woven string-fabric behind. The inflatable envelope fitted with a length of tube with connector which attaches to the wearer's PEC from which compressed air is fed into the inflatable belly pad which is linked to the leg sections of the trousers covering the muscle groupings. These areas are made to fit the wearer very tightly by the provision of lacing panels allowing them to be profiled exactly to the contours of the user. Both legs have full length zips running down their insides and shorter zips on the outsides of the thigh portions. Small pocket on right side of belly band. Large patch pockets with pencil tubes on both upper legs with blank panels for writing boards or maps. Two small pockets with flap and Velcro closure on lower legs. Nylon patch on right upper leg for attachment of Aircrew Emergency knife.

Aircrew Light Protective Helmet Assembly (ALPHA). Green, Kevlar, helmet shell with expanded foam liner incorporating a pad in the crown and leather covered foam pads front and rear. Adjustable nylon webbing neck strap in the rear with foam pad. Ear capsules, fitted with finger loops to aid donning, are attached to nylon straps which can be loosed by external clips on each side of the helmet. Wired with NATO jack plug exiting the rear of the helmet and microphone connector externally on the lower left side. Helmet is fitted with a twin visor assembly and has a cloth visor cover attached to the assembly via press studs. The visors have locking systems on both sides. A cross of reflective tape is fitted to the top of the helmet. Chin strap with quick locking buckle and Velcro adjustment. This example fitted with oxygen mask hooks.

Ear capsules, fitted with finger loops to aid donning, are attached via Velcro pads to nylon straps which can be loosed by external clips on each side of the helmet. Wired with NATO jack plug exiting the rear of the helmet and microphone connector externally on the lower left side. Helmet is fitted with a twin visor assembly. A cross of reflective tape is fitted to the top of the helmet. Chin strap with quick locking buckle and Velcro adjustment. This example fitted with a Selic boom mike and a track for NVG equipment.

Flying Helmet Type D

Sand, cotton twill helmet lined in silk constructed in strips passing from front to rear of the wearer's head with a brow band, lined in velvet. Small neck flap attached to the rear. Fitted with circular, black rubber telephone holders with chamois pads. Three male press studs on the left side and a hook on the right of the face aperture for connection of Type E*/ G Oxygen Masks. Elasticated chin strap with press stud closure. Centre rear fitted with short buckled strap to retain goggles strap. A pair of vertical leather tabs sewn at top and with press studs at bottom placed behind telephone holders to steady goggles strap. A small leather tab is provided in the centre rear of the helmet to secure a wiring loom which is then fed through press studded tabs and then channels to the telephone receivers and to a microphone plug on the left. Type 2091 Connector and Type 32 Telephone Receivers fitted to this example.

Aircrew protective helmet consisting of a rigid glass fibre shell painted white. The crown of the shell has a sateen covered cork lining while a nylon webbing cradle is suspended below this. A foam backed leather lining is laced round the rim of the helmet and extends to cover the forehead and the back of the neck. An additional neck pad is provided and is adjusted by straps which exit the sides of the helmet shell. The microphone connector is housed in an aperture on the left while the jack plug exits the lining at the rear. The telephones are housed in ear capsules fitted with fluid filled ear seals and are suspended by a wire harness. Loops are attached to the ear capsules to aid donning. The helmet is fitted with a visor assembly consisting of a tinted acrylic visor attached to a central track via an operating mechanism controlled by a handle above the visor.
Aircrew Helmet Mk 3C

Mk. 2A helmet converted to Mk. 3C standard. Aircrew protective helmet consisting of a rigid glass fibre shell painted green. The crown of the shell has a sateen covered cork lining while a nylon webbing cradle is suspended below this. A foam backed leather lining is laced round the rim of the helmet and extends to cover the forehead and the back of the neck. An additional neck pad is provided and is adjusted by straps which exit the sides of the helmet shell. The microphone connector is housed in an aperture on the left while the jack plug exits the lining at the rear. The telephones are housed in ear capsules fitted with fluid filled ear seals and are suspended by a wire harness. Loops are attached to the ear capsules to aid donning. The helmet is fitted with a twin visor assembly pivoting round the sides of the helmet consisting of a lower clear acrylic visor with a tinted visor above. A locking handle is fitted to the right of the clear visor.

Aircrew protective helmet consisting of a rigid glass fibre shell painted white. The crown of the shell has a sateen covered cork lining while a nylon webbing cradle is suspended below this. A foam backed leather lining is laced round the rim of the helmet and extends to cover the forehead and the back of the neck. An additional neck pad is provided and is adjusted by straps which exit the sides of the helmet shell. Oxygen mask hooks are attached to the side of the helmet and protrude through the lining. The microphone connector is housed in an aperture on the left while the jack plug exits the lining at the rear. The telephones are housed in ear capsules fitted with fluid filled ear seals and are suspended by a wire harness. Loops are attached to the ear capsules to aid donning. The helmet is fitted with a visor assembly consisting of a tinted acrylic visor with yellow plastic covered operating bar, a plastic visor cover, a visor operating and g-release mechanism with cover on the right, while a simple pivot and cover is found on the left.
