Khaki drill knee length shorts with button fly. Two side pockets opening vertically down the side seems. The waistband fashioned as two extended straps which cross-over each other; the right one passing through a slit in the left side and thence to a pin buckle, the left one passing through a retainer on the right side and thence to a pin buckle (both buckles missing).

Motorcyclist, Blue, Ptn 1918

Blue cotton breeches shaped to the thigh and close over the knee and upper calf, fastening with laces. The inside of the legs and the seat reinforced with panels of fabric applied with multiple rows of stitching. The top of the garment cut with a flap front fastening with three horn buttons on each side. Set into the front of the flap, two pockets with internal bags set parallel with the fastening panels. Both the front and rear of the waist incorporating pairs of very large darts reducing the waist to tiny proportions. The inside of the front darts acting as the anchor points for an internal waistband of sateened cotton fastening behind the wearer which permits the rear part to be lowered for lavatory purposes without taking the breeches down completely. The rear darts provide anchoring points for a short external strap and buckle for adjustment purposes.

Black leather, lace-up shoe with five pairs of lace holes. The forward upper of the shoe formed from a rounded panel of leather stitched to the upper sides with three rows of stitching. This top panel extends backwards to become the tongue of the shoe beneath the lacing. Lined in pale buff leather. With leather sole and blocked heel both reinforced with iron nails.

Jacket with wide flap fastening with four gilding metal buttons down left side. Falling collar, plain cuffs, inset pockets with buttoned flaps in skirts. Fabric belt closing with a single uniform button in line with the fastening buttons. Internal collar in ribbed white cotton. Badges on both sleeves shoulder-title at top with eagle below, both white embroidery on black.

Long, narrow band of khaki fabric woven to width and hem-stitched at both edges. Hemmed at one end and fitted with a long fastening tape at the other.

Flap fronted serge breeches swelling in the thigh and tapering to the calf where the legs fasten with two buttons above the ankle. High waistband fastening with three buttons under the flap. The lower front part of the waistband fitted with two pockets; the upper edge with buttons for braces. The flap fastening with four buttons. Buttons a mixture of lacquered rivetted on types, white metal sewn on types and a bone (?) replacement.
