Rolls-Royce R Engine

1,900/2,350 hp twelve cylinder liquid cooled V-type racing engine on display stand. Front half of gear housing is actualy a wooden replica replacement. Inspection November 2017 noted some chipping and separation/visible jointing of this section.

Strut, Interplane, 41 Squadron 1917

One half of (probable) D.H.5 strut with end fitting. Inscribed both sides with some 54 signatures of squadron personnel c. November 1917, later marked with K (Kiilled) or M (missing)or S (?survived). Rather roughly cut/broken at top end.

Compact, Powder, Presentation, with RAF Wings

Square silver compact with golden RAF badge mounted on the centre of the lid. Small golden thumb catch and polished metal interior with sifter and a mirror mounted to the reverse of the lid. Comes with case.

Within a Queen's crowned laurel wreath overlaid at base with a scroll bearing FOREWARNED IS FOREARMED, an Elizabethan coast watcher holding aloft a flaming torch. Anodized bright gold overall with two fixing lugs with pin on reverse.

Steel Helmet Mark II

Shallow domed (non magnetic) steel shell with stainless steel lip. Fitted with a Mk.II oil skin liner and lining securing bolt with a Mk.II sprung adjustable chin strap. Covered in rough matt green sand paint.

Service Dress Hat of Women's Royal Air Force Other Ranks

Low-crowned round hat with brim made up from B/G fabric. The brim stiffened with numerous rows of concentric stitching and turned up all round except at the front. With black woollen band and staybrite badge.

Camouflaged bag with capped rubber hose and pair of webbing straps. Plastic filler cap at front, marked Camelbak. Three pairs of paired plastic loops, plus plastic-clip detachable carrying strap at top and bottom and fixed one at front.

Vertical rectangular wooden box fitted with "binocular" type eye piece at the top front, with an access door (for slides) at the top. Six adjustable knobs on either side rotate the slides and adjust focus. Complete with a box of original bomb damage transparencies.
