Oar, Airborne Lifeboat, RAF Mk. I

Plain pine oar painted pale blue-grey with unpainted grips. Narrow blade. Held in place on boat by fore and aft webbing straps and positioned when stowed on port side of boat opposite the stowed mast.

Navy blue, wool folding cap with turned up front peak and band, folded and turned up, secured at sides by hooks and fastening with two very small brass buttons at front. Gilt Eagle and ATA badge on the left.

Woven as a disc. On the white centre a green low loader lorry carrying a cartoon duck in black and yellow. Around the yellow border A/C SALVAGE & TRANSPORTATION at top and FLIGHT ROYAL AIR FORCE ABINGDON at bottom in black. Lock-stitched round in yellow thread.

Reichsluftschutzbund Helmet

Protective steel helmet made from three sections of helmet shell, front brim and rear brim. Brim shaped to leave ears uncovered. Lined with a felt head band covered by a leather cradle (cradle missing). Helmet painted dark blue and has a Luftschutz transfer on the front.
