A vertical oval wreath of oak (left) and laurel (right), joined at the base with a ribbon and ensigned with the Prussian crown. Within the wreath an aircraft flying over a landscape. Vertical fixing pin on the reverse. Silver, white alloy throughout.

On a patch of black melton cut to shape, the words ROYAL FLYING CORPS embroidered in off-white arranged in two lines, the upper, first two words, curved, the lower straight. The back reinforced with gummed skrim and the letters embroidered through.

WRAF 1918 skirt converted for civilian use. Brown calf length wool skirt with clasped waist and press studded opening on the left. Vertical flapped inset pockets in the front with button closure (buttons missing). Three bands of black lace run horizontally above the lower hem.

Above a scroll bearing NOTTS & DERBY, a maltese cross the points having ball ends, the centre pierced and surrounded by an oak wreath enclosing a resting stag. Across the centre of the cross two scrolls bearing SHERWOOD FORESTERS and below the wreath a scroll bearing NOTTS & DERBY. In the cleft of the upper branch of the cross a small King's crown. Right collar - stag facing to viewer's right. Two fixing lugs on reverse with pin.
