Round peaked cap with patent leather peak and chin strap. Black mohair band. Cap badge of gold wire wreath overlaid with a small silver metal flying eagle, the whole surmounted by a gold wire crown with red velvet inserts.

Reverse - within a buckled strap lettered AERO CLUB OF THE UNITED KINGDOM the engraved inscription AWARDED TO THE HON. C.S.ROLLS for METEOROLOGICAL REPORTS 1907.

Very large silver trophy in form of hot air balloon with detailed rigging and basket, supported by four feathered bird's wings, each incorporating a letter of the four compass points - N,E,S,W; standing on a half globe engraved with map of the northern hemisphere, itself supported on a large circular ebonised base. Two of the four wings are loose where attached to the balloon envelope.
