Cup, Giesler Challenge

Large, sterling silver, two handled urn with cover/lid of elaborate design with fluted base and acanthus leaf skirt. The handles are supported on winged torches embraced by serpents with a mask above and a ring handle formed by snakes heads. A wreath is found on both sides and one side is engraved ‘Giesler’s Challenge Cup. Presented by Messrs Giesler & Co. for the Advancement of Aviation For Cross Country Race at the London Aerodrome, Hendon’. With ebonizedblack plinth which has silver band giving winner's names 1927 - 1967.

Large silver two handled cup and cover. Engraved on one side with the town's coat of arms along with ‘Bournemouth Centenary Fetes, July 1910, First International Aviation Meeting in the British Isles, Daily Telegraph Prize for General Merit (British Section)'. The other side is engraved along with much scroll work and foliate designs ‘Presented by the Proprietors of THE DAILY TELEGRAPH 1910 PRIZE FOR GENERAL MERIT (BRITISH SECTION) WON BY CLAUDE GRAHAME-WHITE JULY 1910'.

Oval, double handled silver cup with scalloped edge in relief decoration and monsters heads on the handles. The side is engraved ‘Presented by Stewart Dawson & Comp.y Ltd. to the Women’s Aerial League in the interests of National Aviation for the Ladies Aviation Meeting, Hendon, July 8th 1912’.
Grahame-White Type 9

Large probably formerly silver plated, but now heavily tarnished, silver model of a Grahame-White Type 9 single-seat tractor monoplane including detailed pilot's seat, three cylinder engine and rotating propeller on ebonized black wooden plinth. Plinth has a metal plate on its upper surface to show hidden detail of aircraft’s under side, and an engraved silver plaque to one side.
