Invasion without tears. Information and advice on how to get to the 2nd Front in comfort, with foreword by AVM Harry Broadhurst, Air-Officer-Commanding 83 Group
No. 83 Group Rear Headquarters issued this confidential information sheet to explain procedures prior to embarkation for Operation Overlord. As well as movement orders, instructions for kit and documentation were included.
One instruction related to police dogs who could travel with their units, while others were asked to stay at home: “Pet dogs, large and small have insisted on accompanying master on Invasion Exercises. We appeal to all T.A.F. dogs…to make other arrangements for the real show, and to make them now”.
