Pilots flying log book of Lieutenant Geoffrey Grierson Bailey, 1917-1919
Grierson began his flying training in July 1917 and on completion of his training was posted to France in November 1917 as a fighter pilot, joining No.43 Squadron flying the Sopwith Camel.
Grierson remained with No.43 Squadron until August 1918, during which time he claimed eight enemy aircraft, making him a fighter ace. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in July 1918, which appears to have been personally awarded to him by Field Marshal Haig.
