Reverse Model for a Gold Medallion Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain by Abram Games, plaster
Games’ commemorative medallion was cast in 22-carat gold and produced in three sizes to appeal to different collector markets.
Abram Games was an established commercial artist at the outbreak of war. Following conscription into the Army, he was soon appointed as an Official War Poster Artist to the War Office. He considered himself a ‘graphic thinker’ rather than an artist and his designs comprised geometric shapes with little text, based on his principle of ‘maximum meaning, minimum means’. Donated by Abram Games in 1985. Copyright: Estate of Abram Games / RAF Museum.
