Parker Pen with Stand used by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II
This writing set consisting of a pen, magnetic pen holder and onyx stone base was used by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II to sign the visitors book during the opening of the of the Royal Air Force Museum on 15 November 1972.
However, this was not the pen Her Majesty was supposed to use. Originally an ornate quill and ink set was acquired for the occasion but a couple of hours before the Queen’s arrival a message was received from Buckingham Palace to say that the Queen did not use quills. A replacement was needed quickly and this writing set was borrowed from the desk of the Station Commander of RAF Hendon.
