Gotha Aircraft Skin Fragment
Small rectangular fragile fragment of linen fabric from Gotha biplane bomber with purple and green paint remains one side and inked "GOTHA S.960 shot down at Harty Point by Capt Haines, Date May 19th 1918 at 11.30pm".
From one of a force of 18 Gothas and one Giant which reached England on the night of 19 May 1918 - Whitsunday; six Gothas were shot down by guns and aircraft. Identity of Captain Haines as yet unknown.
