Propeller from Gotha Bomber
Single blade from 2BW propeller with brass flashing, from a German Gotha biplane bomber.
From first Gotha shot down over England, Margate, 22 August 1917. One of a force of 15 aircraft that set out for Dover, Margate and Ramsgate; five turned back and the other ten lost formation as a result of determined AA fire, two/three being shot down by Home Defence Squadrons and AA. During the raid, one Gotha nose-dived into the sea offshore from Margate as a result of combined AA fire and fire from British aircraft, with one survivor from the crew, the gunner.
