Aircraft Recognition Cards
Aircraft recognition was a vital skill for the Royal Observer Corps and aircrew. Many hours were devoted to studying photographs or drawings of aircraft. Illustrated playing cards added some fun to the process.
These cards are a later version of the cards that were available during the Battle of Britain. The Air Ministry published cards for RAF personnel while the Royal Observer Corps published their own. Cards were also adopted by the Air Training Corps. Later versions were published by the National Association of Spotters’ Clubs.
