Vickers, 0.303in, Mk. III
The Vickers 0.303” Mk.III was a variant of the water-cooled Vickers machine gun used by the British Army in the First World War
The Vickers was widely fitted to RAF aircraft from the First World War onwards, and the Mk.III version was installed in interwar RAF fighters such as the Hawker Demon and Hawker Fury. From 1937 it began to be replaced by the Browning 0.303” machine gun, which had a faster rate of fire and was more reliable.
