Hawker Hind (Afghan)
The Hawker Hind was a single engine day bomber which entered RAF service in 1935. Hinds were also exported widely, with some, like our example, built for the Afghan Air Force
In the interwar years, Hawker produced a successful line of bombers and fighters for the Royal Air Force. Designed by Sydney Camm the Hawker Hind was a successor to the Hawker Hart bomber. Powered by a Rolls Royce Kestrel engine it had a top speed of 186mph and could carry a 230kg bomb load. Our particular example was built in 1938 specifically for the Afghan Air Force and remained in service with them until the 1950s.
