Letter to Sir Hugh Dowding requesting that he write a despatch on the Battle of Britain and informing him that he will be placed on the retired list once the despatch has been completed.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding was the Commander-in-Chief of Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain. He was responsible for the 'Dowding System', the world's first integrated air defence system, crucial for the success of the campaign. Dowding left the RAF in contentious circumstances and later in life was convinced that he had been treated unjustly and overlooked by his other senior peers.
