Mitsubishi Ki-46 'Dinah'
This Ki-46 was captured by the British in Malaya at the end of the War. It was assessed by the Allied Technical Air Intelligence Unit, South East Asia (ATAIU SEA), before coming to the UK as a museum object.
The Ki-46 was designed as a fast and high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft. In the early stages of the Pacific War, it was difficult for allied fighters to intercept. Ki-46s provided the Japanese with vital intelligence before the opening of the Malayan campaign, in which British forces suffered a devastating defeat.
