Roland Rat Mascot
Roland Rat, a children's TV phenomenon of the 1980s and 1990s, was adopted by No. 16 Squadron as their mascot and was fully kitted out in RAF uniform for the role.
Roland Rat is thought to have joined No. 16 Squadron in the mid-1980s at about the time it converted to Tornados. He is believed to have accompanied them to Tabuk during the Gulf War 1991 and afterwards to Lossiemouth, where they became a reserve squadron equipped with Jaguars. Roland's last posting was to Coltishall and, when No. 16 Squadron disbanded in 2005, he was transferred to the RAF Museum.
