Sergeant Charney - Raid on Heligoland
Recording in which Sergeant Charney describes a raid on Heligoland and explains how one propeller caught the sea on the return flight.
Sergeant Charney gives an account of a well-executed bombing raid on Heligoland, praising the skills of the lead navigator and stating that the defenders were caught by surprise. He then explains how, on the return flight at very low level, one propeller caught the sea. Despite severe damage he was able to pull up and climb away, later making a safe belly landing.
