Sergeant Murray - Experiences of a tail gunner
Recording in which Sergeant Murray gives a brief account of his career as a tail gunner in bombers during the early part of the Second World War.
Sergeant Murray states that he joined the RAF as a mechanic in 1936 before becoming an air gunner. He gives an account of his experiences since the outbreak of war, including anti-shipping operations off the coast of Norway, an attack on a radio station, shadowing the Altmark as she returned to Europe and then night bombing operations, including raids on Kiel.
