Flying Officer S.B. de Mier - A Mexican flies a Havoc

Recording in which S.B. de Mier, a Mexican, gives an account of his career as an air gunner in the RAF during the Second World War.

De Mier explains how he joined the RAF. He comments on his initial training as an air gunner and goes on to explain how his squadron was completely destroyed while he was in hospital. After a tour as a gunnery instructor de Mier served in night fighter squadrons, operating Beaufighters and Havocs. He describes night fighter operations and gives an account of an air crash in which he was involved.
