Squadron Leader F.A.F. Maclachan - 'The Intruder'

Squadron Leader Maclachlan, an RAF night fighter pilot, gives an account of a sweep over France, during which he shot down two German bombers and strafed a train.

Squadron Leader Maclachlan reflects on the stereotype of an intruder pilot and on night operations over occupied Europe. He remembers how he shot down two German aircraft near a German airfield and attacked a train on the return flight. He remembers his return to his own airfield, groundcrew reactions and debrief. He comments on his flight commander, Kuttelwascher, as an intruder pilot and gives his views on the Hurricane.
