Pilot, Mess Dress, Ptn 1920
A uniform to be worn in the Officers’ Mess was introduced in 1920. The jacket was worn with miniature medals and special badges, of which the pilot’s wings was one.
These pilot’s wings were worn by Air Chief Marshal Sir Roderick Maxwell Hill. He would have worn them in the evening on his Mess Dress jacket. They were smaller than regular pilot’s wings and embroidered in gold thread.
