RAF Medical Services Branch encompasses a wide variety of medical care including general practice, paramedicine and aero-medical evacuation. The Centre of Aviation medicine conducts research into the medical affects on the body due to flying.
The RAF Medical Services came from the Army Medical Department and was established on the formation of the RAF in 1918. The RAF's nursing, Princess Mary's Royal Air Force Nursing Service, service was formed in 1923 and a RAF Dental Branch was established in 1930.
