1980's Bomb Disposal overalls badge

The RAF maintained a bomb disposal capability until the disbandment in 2020 of 5131 Squadron, the last of the RAF's explosive ordnance disposal units.

5131 Squadron specialised in air launched weapons but were also trained in dealing with explosives found in ejector seats and aircraft canopies. Squadron personnel served in the Falklands Conflict, Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland as well as assisting in bomb disposal in the UK.
