Bristol Bulldog Mk IIAs flying past during the Royal Jubilee Review, RAF Mildenhall, 1935
As part of the King George V's Silver Jubilee on 6 July, 1935, the RAF chose RAF Station Mildenhall as one of two venues to host a royal review of the RAF. A third of the RAF's entire strength – 38 squadrons with 370 aircraft – took part in the royal review.
The King was accompanied by the Prince of Wales and the Duke of York. The aircraft on display included bombers, fighters, and observation aircraft. Here cameramen film Bristol Bulldogs flying overhead. The Bulldog was the RAF's principal fighter of the early 1930s, equipping 10 of its 13 home defence Squadrons.
