Siddeley, 1933
In 1933 Alex Henshaw, aged 20, competed in the King’s Cup Air Race. He was awarded the Siddeley Trophy for setting the fastest time in a light aircraft.
The Siddeley Trophy was awarded to the pilot of the first light (under 1000lb in weight) aircraft to complete the King’s Cup Air Race. In 1933, the winner of the Siddeley Trophy was Alex Henshaw. Only 20 years old, and a newcomer to air racing, he had not been expected to perform so well.
