Officer's, Full Dress, Tunic, Ptn 1920
Full Dress (Home Pattern), also known as Number One Dress, was the RAF’s ceremonial uniform between 1920 and 1939. This example belonged to the Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Sir Edward Ellington.
While the Full Dress uniform underwent a number of changes during it’s 19 year existence, the pattern of the Tunic remained the same. Made from blue Venetian cloth it featured a high collar and closed with seven buttons down the front. The cuffs of this example display the gold rank lace of a Marshal of the Royal Air Force while the collar is fully decorated with gold embroidered oak leaves denoting an officer of Air rank.
