Officer's, Pale B/G, Ptn 1918
Air Ministry Weekly Order No. 162 of 1918 introduced a new uniform of pale blue fabric to the same pattern as the khaki uniform worn during the First World War.
This jacket was worn by Lieutenant Frederick Postlethwaite, a balloon observer. The pale blue RAF uniform was intended to replace the wartime khaki uniform. Its introduction met with adverse comments, and it was soon replaced. Air Ministry Weekly Order No. 1049 of 1919 introduced the replacement uniform, made with the RAF blue-grey in use today.
